#8) Understanding “Spreading the wealth.”

“Joe the plumber” became famous when Obama’s repy tied his tax policy to his social policy; “spreading the wealth.” Obama promised even those not paying taxes would get refunds. Some equate this to welfare in disguise, and using taxpayer’s money to buy the votes where the money would go to. The Wall Street Journal precisely diagramed all income above $70k would see tax increases, yet Obama states those under $200k would see taxes lowered. This talking point is necessary to win the election, as those making $70-$200k represent a 40% voting block.

Obama said in a 2001 radio interview that while it would be difficult, he could imagine having the courts involved in wealth redistribution, which he equates with political and economic justice. Obama lamented the constitution did not say the government must do this, blaming the Founding Fathers for purposely constraining the government from doing exactly that.
